Configuration (sugata): flat (hira-zukuri) with shallow peaked back (iori-mune); length (nagasa): 7 sun, 5 bu (22.9cm.).
Forging pattern (jihada): dense 'pear-skin' (nashiji).
Tempering pattern (hamon): irregular undulations (gonome midare).
Point (boshi): Jizo.
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): unshortened (ubu); file marks (yasurime): sujikai; end (nakagojiri): rounded (kurijiri); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (mei): Jokeishi Masanori, dated Meiji 2 (1869).
Shirasaya.
Silver-mounted koshirae comprising: a red saya, mounted with a silver kurikata and kojiri engraved and pierced with a design of dragonflies and flowers; the tsuka mounted with gold and shakudo menuki formed as flowering peony; a hamadashi tsuba undecorated; a wari-kogai carved with a design of flowering chrysanthemum; a kogai similarly decorated, signed Nobutoshi tsukuru (Kudo Nobutoshi, fl. 1875, a silversmith and student of Goto Ichijo).-- Length of koshirae 37cm.; length of tsuka 10.3cm.;
tsuba height 4.6cm., width 3cm., thickness 4mm.; length of wari-kogai 15cm.; length of kozuka 7.6cm. Slight chips and old wear to the saya.
