A 62-PLATE MYOCHIN ZABOSHI KABUTO AFTER NOBUIE
LATE MOMOYAMA/EARLY EDO PERIOD
Each plate has a row of thirteen hoshi set with kiku washers and diminishing in size towards the tehen-kanamono. The original black lacquer has been overlacquered with a dark orange-red coating, also used on the plain mabisashi and diminutive fukigaeshi which are set with shakudo mon of the Okuba daimyo. The 4-lame shikoro lacquered in black and laced dark blue, inscribed on the interior Myochin Nobuie saku.
Accompanied by: an early, hand-written origami by the N.B.T.H.K., dated Showa 34 (1959), and by a letter attesting that the kabuto had been owned by Okubo Hikozaemon.
