EDO PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY, SIGNED GOSHU [NO] KUNI TOMOTOBEI (KAO) SAKU

The cylindrical 137-bore barrel terminating in a flared octagonal muzzle, set with a fixed and a bar sight and decorated on the exposed surface with five silver nunome aoi-mon, signed on the underside, Goshu [no] Kuni Tomotobei kao saku and san-ju maki bari; the one-piece wood stock, later-dated Meiji 19 (1886), fitted with plain brass furniture--overall length 39in. (99cm.).
