A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER SAUCEBOATS

In the George II style, each of oval form, raised on four lobed shell and scroll feet, with wavy rim and similar scroll handle, engraved under the lip with a coat-of-arms within a rocaille and acanthus scroll cartouche, marked under bases--8 1/8in. (20.6cm.) long

Lot Essay

The arms are of Twysden impaling those of Twysden. Sir William Twysden, 5th Bt., had succeeded to the Baronetcy in 1712 and had married Jane, granddaughter of Sir Thomas Twysden, Bt. of Bradbourn. He died in 1751 and presumably these sauceboats, made to match George II examples were engraved with the original arms.
