It was only the light aspect of color which concerned us, light
and space are the two things which touch, and we worked them together.

By positioning his bottle and glass at will, Braque could extract the fullest possible sensations of light and space from his compositions. In size, composition and quality, Bouteille et verre compares very favorably to Le bougeoir in the Hermann and Margrit Rupt Collection at the Kunstmuseum in Bern, Switzerland.
