Well painted in a rich palette with an emperor seated on a lion-skin draped throne set atop a dias, holding an audience with a group of soldiers, below a narrow border of ruyi heads and a wider band of diaper patterns interrupted by reserves enclosing babao, the neck decorated with bamboo and rocks and the galleried mouth rim with a band of crosshatching, a three character collector's mark inscribed on the base--17 7/8 in. (45.4cm.) high
