The ovoid vase set on a flared, hexagonal base and fitted with a hexagonal trumpet neck, rendered in gold kinji lacquer inlaid in mother-of-pearl and colored ivory with birds and flowers, the foot and neck decorated in bright gold gyobu and nashiji ground and bordered by silver lappet collars, each enamelled with formal floral sprays, the interior and base nashiji, the rim silver- 8 3/4 in. (22.4 cm.) high
