Constructed in the form of two overlapped clam shells, decorated on the lid in takamaki-e, nashiji and togidashi with one large brown and black clam shell and one gold clam shell, the cavity of which is embellished with a veranda and paulownia branches, the sides rendered in iro-e hiramaki-e and nashiji in a kikko-hanabishi pattern, the interior and base nashiji, silver mounted- 5 in. (12.8 cm.) long, 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) high
