PENN, WILLIAM. Engraved document signed ("Wm Penn"), with Penn's armorial seal, a sale of 5000 acres of land in Pennsylvania to "Robert Turner of the City of Dubling in the Kingdom of Ireland", n.p., 23 March 1681, docketed on verso and with attestation of five witnesses. One sheet, 577 x 677mm. (23 3/4 x 2 1/8 in.), ON VELLUM, in a clear Chancery script in black ink, the opening text "This Indenture" in ornate gothic letters and with elaborately flourished capitals and ascenders, two or three tiny perforations, some creasing at folds, some slight discoloration, a few stains and light soiling to verso.
Penn "bargain[s], selll[s], release[s] and confirm[s]" 5000 acres of land "situate lying and being within the said Tract of Land or Province of Pensylvania" to Turner for the sum of #100.
