ROOSEVELT, FRANKLIN DELANO, President. Typed letter signed ("F.D.R.") as President, to Harry L. Hopkins at the Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, Minn.; Washington, D.C., 10 March 1944. One page, small 4to, integral blank, on imprinted White House stationery. A warm letter. "I am perfectly delighted with the fine reports Ross gives me of the way you have come through the operation. I am glad they decided on something definite and that they all feel it is going to work this time. Grace tells me that you are going to go off somewhere after leaving Mayo's instead of returning to Washington. I think this is very wise....I had a good rest at Hobcaw [the Bernard Baruch estate] and while I feel much better, the doctors insist I take it easy for the present. I plan to go up to Shangri-La this weekend. It will be grand to have you back...."
