A FINE SILVER SALVER
MAKER'S MARK OF JACOB HURD, BOSTON, CIRCA 1745

Shaped octagonal, with a molded border and applied bead-molded rim, on four scroll geet, the center engraved with a circular reserve enclosing a coat-of-arms, helm, and crest within foliate mantling against a ground of brickwork, the reverse engraved "This belonged to Henry Bromfield. born 1727. died at Harvard Mass. 1820", marked I Hurd in shaped cartouche--10 3/8in. diameter

The arms are those of Bromfield, as borne by Henry Bromfield (1727-1820). Thence by descent to Henry Bromfield Cabot, Jr.
