I am somewhat handicapped in appreciation because of my almost complete lack of acquaintance with Emily Dickinson's poetry. Furthermore, I must confess that I have no great taste for reconstructions of personalities with conjectures about the author's private life. I should be more interested in a direct comparison of the poetry, and neither Miss Dickinson's ancestry nor my own seems to me of much interest in this context.
