(9 1/16 x 6 1/16 in.), contemporary half dark purple morocco, g.e., worn, most joints and some inner hinges splitting, lacking approximately 160 plates (not including those of vols. 14-16), all but vols. 1-4 and 10 lacking half-titles, cropping to images of approximately 23 plates and to captions or artists' signatures of approximately 63 plates, 5 text leaves and 2 plates in vols. 4 and 9 detached, occasional mostly marginal foxing, some offsetting to the folding plates, slight dampstaining to upper margins in vols. 7 to 9, some marginal soiling. Reissue of vol. 1, 419 hand-colored engraved and lithographed plates (one of the six plates of garden designs uncolored), including approximately 24 folding or double-page, numerous text wood-engravings.
