Lot Essay

An important American impressionist photographer who worked in Indianapolis (c. 1895-1910), Chislett contributed to the American Salon of 1904. His influence is apparent in the work of George Seeley, a friend from the early days of the Pictorial Movement, who also exhibited in the first American Salon at Chislett's behest.
