Rogi Andre studied at the Beaux-Arts of Budapest and moved to Paris around 1925. There she met the core of the artistic avant-garde, including André Kertész whom she supposedly married, although this has never been confirmed. Whatever the truth of the situation, she did take her mentor's name, reflecting her relationship with Kertész.
