For the attribution compare two still lives (Rivet collection, Paris and van Emden collection, L'Aja) given to the Master of the Rugs, an artist working in Rome, which are similar in dimension and composition (La natura morta in Italia, ed. F. Zeri, 1989, II, p. 730, figs. 866 and 867, illustrated p. 729)
