A KYOTO SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700)

The thick, round iron plate is carved in an openwork design of six triple-branch pine boughs. The needles of three boughs are carved in fine, parallel lines and the others in a more schematic manner. There are some fine iron bones in the rim and the edge--height and width 8.1cm., thickness 4.5mm.
