EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700)

The round iron plate is carved in an openwork design of linked scrolls (karakusa). The rim and edge have some very fine iron bones--height and width 8.2cm., thickness 5.5mm.

Lot Essay

The size, sophistication and quality of the plate, and the marks around the central opening, all indicate the Genroku era (1688-1704).
