This tsuba was made by the Shoami school of Kyoto. The wire decoration was added slightly later.

A SHINGEN STYLE TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700)
The round iron plate was originally carved with a series of open circles around the rim, and the web is carved as a chrysanthemum bloom. The rim's openwork is now filled with a copper, rope-form wire pattern common to the Shingen style of tsuba design--height and width 8.4cm., thickness 5.0mm.
