EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1775), SIGNED HAMANO NAOYUKI WITH KAO

Each piece is of shibuichi plate and is decorated in high relief with a design inlaid in shakudo, copper, gold and silver of samurai on horseback in a battle scene.

Lot Essay

Hamano Naoyuki (b. 1754) was a student of Hamano Noriyuki I (1736-1787) and of Konakamura Naonori (fl. 1775). He was a prolific artist, and his work has appealed to Western collectors since Meiji times.
