EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1825)

The oval iron plate is carved with a slightly rounded and raised rim area that has many iron bones in the edge. The web is carved in a design of a water dragon executed in silver damascene (nunome), and the body of the dragon is carved with cloud forms. The reverse is decorated with a plum bloom and buds also in silver nunome--height 8.0cm., width 7.7cm., thickness 4.5mm.
