A MITO SCHOOL KOZUKA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1750)

The shibuichi plate is decorated in high relief with the theme of Aritoshi Myojin. A man holding a lantern under a broken umbrella is looking at a swallow flying across the moon. The inlay in shakudo, gold, silver and shibuichi. The reverse is carved in brushstroke style (katakiribori) with a torii and pine tree with clouds--length 9.8cm., width 1.5cm., thickness 5.25mm.
