EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800)

The oval iron plate is carved in the web with two dragons in the round, positioned head to tail. The surface retains much of its original black lacquer surface--height 6.5cm., width 5.9cm., thickness 5.0mm.

Lot Essay

The double dragon design is rarer in the Mito Ichiryu (Hitotsuyanagi) school than that of the single dragon.
