AN UCHIKOSHI SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1825), SIGNED JOGETSUSAI HIROYOSHI WITH KAO
The round shakudo plate has a polished surface and is inlaid with a design of a large flowering plum tree. The trunk is in shakudo, as are most of the branches. The flowers are in silver and the buds are in gold. The design extends to the reverse--height 7.5cm., width 7.2cm., thickness 4.25mm.
Lot Essay
Marukawa Hiroyoshi was the student of Uchikoshi Hironaga. He worked at Mito in Hitachi Province circa 1825-1850.
