A NOMUKA SCHOOL KOZUKA
MID-EDO PERIOD, SIGNED TSU JIMPO (OTSU JIMPO [1720-1761])
The plate is of shakudonanako with a very high relief design of a wasp with gold wings and copper body on a gold broom handle; the twigs of the broom are in shakudo--length 9.7cm., width 1.5cm., thickness 8mm.
Double wood storage boxes. Inner box with inscription by Homma Junji (Kunzan), dated Showa 56 (1981).
Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 234, and dated Showa 52 (1977).

Lot Essay
Tsu Jimpo came from the Edo branch of the Nomura family school and studied under Nomura Masamichi (1706-1757) and Nomura Masatoki (1679-?).
