A TANAKA SCHOOL SUKASHI TSUBA
LATE EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1850), SIGNED IKKANSHIKI RYUSO HOGEN (TANAKA KIYOTOSHI [1804-1876])
The iron plate of kawari shape is pierced with Futen with his bag of wind and Raiden with his thunder-drums. The surface is both hammered and polished and the design carved and inlaid, with fine gold damascene on the figures. Rust area of sides illustrated, left side--height 8.1cm., width 7.5cm., thickness 4mm.
In wood box inscribed by Sato Kanzan and dated Showa 47 (1972).
With tokubetsu kicho certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 136, dated Showa 46 (1971).
