AN EDO KINKO TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800), INSCRIBED HAMANO NORIYUKI
The oval shakudo plate is carved in stone finish (ishime) surface. The face is inlaid with mandarin ducks in shakudo and gold. The reverse is decorated with a stream and plants in gold--height 6.8cm., width 6.3cm., thickness 4.5mm.

The workmanship is that of one of the finest Edo kinko artists. The signature was added at a later date.
