Configuration (sugata): ken; length (nagasa): 9 sun (24.2cm.).
Forging pattern (jihada): tight straight wood grain (masame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): suguba in nie.
Point (boshi): incurving on the shinogi.
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): tapering and with a moist, brown patina; file marks (yasurime): sloping (sujikai); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (mei): (Kiku-mon), Izumi (no) Kami Rai Kinmichi; inside (ura): Sokusai enmei shogan jo ju (safe and sound, live in peace, long life, various wishes completed).
Shirasaya.
Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate, no. 5504862, Showa 55 (1980), issued by the N.B.T.H.K.
