AN OSAKA TAMBA KATANA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1660), SIGNED YAMATO (NO) KAMI YOSHIMICHI, ATTRIBUTED TO YOSHIMICHI II
Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 3 sun, 7 bu (72.1cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 1.7cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 1.0cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): fine wood grain (itame) and with masame on the shinogi-ji.
Tempering pattern (hamon): extremely wide choji gonome midare extending to the shinogi in nioi and splendid nie. Point (boshi): brushed tip (hakikake) with medium kaeri.
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): slender, elongated and tapering and with a thin, moist brown patina; file marks (yasurime): slanted (katte-sagari); end (nakagojiri): iri-yamagata; holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Yamato (no) Kami Yoshimichi.
Shirasaya with attestation by Kasumi Toshio (Shunsui).
Silk storage bag.
Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate, no. 66502, Showa 37 (1962), issued by the N.B.T.H.K.
