Configuration (sugata): of flat, wedge section (hira-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune); length (nagasa): 8 sun, 5 bu (25.6cm.); curvature (sori): uchizori of 0.1cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): very tight wood grain (itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): shallow waves of clove patterns (notare choji) in bright nie and with 'swept sands' (sunagashi).
Point (boshi): small rounded (ko-maru); outside (omote): sloping (sujikai); end (nakagojiri): rounded (kuri-jiri); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Sama Compton haku (Honorable Dr. Compton) Yoshindo; inside (ura): oite tekisasu; date (jidai): Showa 55-nen 4-gatsu (the 4th month of Showa 55 [1980]).
