Each with a lotus and anthemion cast classical vessel fitted with scantily clad maidens and youths, with similarly cast reeded handles on acanthus-cast beaded socle and stepped square plinth cast with ribbon-entwined berried laurel wreaths-20in. (51cm.) high (2)

Lot Essay

The stamp is that of the firm of Pierre-Phillippe Thomire (1751-1843), the foremost bronzier of the first half of the 19th century.
