A FRENCH PROVINCIAL WALNUT TABLE À ÉCRIRE
MID-18TH CENTURY, LIÈGE

With serpentine inset liver and grey mottled marble top above a conforming frieze fitted with two short drawers carved sans traverse with scrolling foliate rocaille above a scalloped apron, the sides and back similarlly carved, on cabriole legs headed by cabochons, ending in foliate-carved scroll toes (marble top cracked)-29½in. (75cm.) high, 19in. (48cm.) wide, 17in. (43cm.) deep

The carving on this lot is closely related to that style found on a gueridon from Liège, illustrated in J. Phillipe, Le Meuble Liegeois, 1990, fig. 179, p. 93.
