A GILT-DECORATED BLUE-GROUND VASE
GUANGXU MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The globular body and tall flaring neck decorated with scattered mons containing flowering plants, insects, birds, animals, shou characters and emblems, divided by a molded band painted with lotus sprays and shou characters encircling the shoulder, with a ruyi collar below the mouth rim and a lappet border above the foot, interior and base also glazed blue, the nianhao under the glaze and appearing black, gilding rubbed--15 1/4 in. (38.8cm.) high
