A FINE PAIR OF ENAMELED BLACK-GROUND SAUCER DISHES
YONGZHENG MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD

The exterior decorated with a meandering vine bearing various blossoms including lotus and pomegranate, enameled in cobalt blue and delicate shades of yellow and aubergine as well as iron-red which is also used for the feathery leaves, all reserved on a black ground scattered with scrolling green tendrils, above a band of black on green classic scroll encircling the foot rim, the interior plain--5 3/4 in. A dish of similar size and decoration in the Hong Kong Museum was included in their exhibition, The Wonder of the Potter's Palette, 1984, Catalogue, no. 52; one in the Victoria and Albert Museum is illustrated by Rose Kerr, Chinese Ceramics, Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty, pl. 23; another in the Shanghai Museum is illustrated in Zhongguo Meishu Quanji, Arts and Crafts, vol. 3, 1988, no. 202; and a pair was included in the Min Chiu Society exhibition, An Anthology of Chinese Ceramics, Hong Kong, 1980, Catalogue no. 131
