See Hugh Moss, By Imperial Command, 1976, col. pl. 36 for an enamelled glass bottle of octagonal, faceted shape painted with attractive European ladies and also bearing a Qianlong mark
For other enamel bottles with European subjects see Moss, Ibid, pls. 28 and 29. Interestingly, a small enameled gold snuff bottle from the Beijing Palace workshops also illustrated by Moss, Ibid, pl. 30 and now in the Collection of Mary and George Bloch, is painted overall with a mille-fiore ground, and the style of the flower-heads, including morning glory, peony and daisy, is identical to the neck band of this example. A Qianlong vessel and stand with the same mille-fiore design is illustrated in Masterpieces of Chinese Enamelled Ware in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, pl. 35
See also Robert W.L. Kleiner, Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Collection of Mary and George Bloch, p. 3, where the author states that "the three eighteenth century Emperors were all fascinated by European culture including techniques of enamelling. European subjects were favoured, particularly a series of prettily dressed young girls, which are depicted on numerous vases and boxes in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan"
A Beijing enamel European-subject bottle sold in these rooms June 4, 1992, lot 89
