Folio, nineteenth-century calf gilt, g.e., upper cover and title leaf detached, title with old gutter repair on recto and severe scotch tape reinforcement on verso, similar reinforcement to next leaf, title browned and brittle, some faint dampstaining at front, occasional minor soiling and marginal repair, lacks last blank leaf. Second edition, 4 parts, black letter, woodcut border [McKerrow & Ferguson 132] on general title, another figurative border on title of second part, 24 small woodcuts of plants and 5 small woodcuts of distilling apparatus on Plv-P3r, 5 nearly full-page woodcuts of male figures (3 naked, one a skeleton and one of a man, thought to be the author contemplating a skull), three other small text woodcuts, numerous woodcut initials.
