Folio, 293 x 178 (11 9/16 x 7), nineteenth-century half sheep, edges sprinkled blue, worn, 13 leaves with gutters renewed incurring slight loss to initials or woodcut diagrams of 9 leaves, cropping to woodcut diagrams or lettering of 7 leaves, 3 double folding plates reinforced at sheet junctures with loss to diagrams or lettering, a few small mostly marginal perforations, occasional discoloration at sheet junctures, marginal dampstaining to a few leaves, minor marginal soiling. FIRST EDITION, the issue without the errata leaf and extra folding plate showing a fortress under siege, gothic type, ornamental gothic woodcut initials, title with large woodcut arms of Ferdinand I, 20 woodcut diagrams or illustrations of fortifications, etc. (one of a cannon), most with lettering cut on the block, 13 on 10 folding double sheets.
