A SAFE CONDUCT LETTER FOR THE WIFE OF A CONFEDERATE OFFICER
"Mrs. Mary Stamps with her three children and servant leave this place to go by way of Mobile, Ala. to Meadville, Miss. She has my authority to travel by the proposed or other route if found preferable, and I commend here as my relative and the wife of an Officer of the Confederate Army to the attention of the public authorities in charge of posts and lines of travel."
