RESCUING A GREAT PIANIST FROM THE NAZIS

"I am taking the liberty of turning to you on behalf of the pianist Moriz Rosenthal, who enjoys a worldwide reputation as a master of pianistic technique. Now at the age of 75 he has lost his bitterly earned savings through the Nazis in Vienna and is thus in difficult straits. These circumstances give me the right--purely as a music lover--to try to interest you in this maestro. I would be very glad if these lines succeeded in doing so...."
