A DOUBLE-TIERED BOX AND COVER

The cylindrical box formed of a bottom tier set on a high ring foot, an upper tier fitting on the bottom tier and a domed cover fitting on the upper tier, each container painted on the sides in underglaze blue with three lanky, four-clawed dragons chasing the flaming pearl amongst rounded clouds and atmosphere rendered in inky blue, the domed cover painted also in underglaze blue with a single four-clawed dragon chasing the flaming pearl reserved on a matching ground of clouds and air, the side of the cover painted with a band of fretwork, glazed white on the interiors of the containers and lid and on the recessed base, the foot unglazed- 6 in.
