NEGRO LEAGUE RADIO TROPHY
An Official League Ball AM radio, made into a trophy by adding a brass band around the base, and attaching a brass plate to the back. The radio is attributed to the offices of the Homestead Grays of the Negro National League. The band on the base contains the name Crews, for Pocahontas Crews who was the secretary of the Grays for a period of time. The plaque lists the names of seventeen players who played on the Grays including: Whatley (Speed)-RF, Williams (Bobby) -SS, Leonard (Buck)-CF, Easterling (Howard)-3B, Wilson (Dan)-U, Wright (John)-P and Partlow (Roy)-P. The Grays won the pennant and the League World Series several times from 1937 to 1944. This may have been an award for one of those championships, with a probable lineup from 1943.
