Sicily, Syracuse (c. 460 BC), Silver Tetradrachm, 17.28 gms., die axis 90°, quadriga moving to the right, Nike above crowning horses, sea-serpent in exergue, rev. head of the nymph Arethusa to the right, her hair in waves, wearing a taenia, /KSYRAKOSION/k and four dolphins around (Boehringer, op. cit., 525 (V 273/R 365); Boston 368; cf SNG ANS 170; cf SNG Lloyd 1319 and 1321-2), toned, choice extremely fine and extremely rare in this condition, a superb example of the 'severe' style at Syracuse
