A 14 PLATE HOSHI-KABUTO
EDO PERIOD (17TH CENTURY)

The 14 plate iron bowl mounted with fourteen rows of five brass rivets and twenty-two brass ribs surmounted by an elaborate four stage brass tehen-kanamono decorated with scrolling chrysanthemum, the front and back with plates of brass incised with a cloud pattern, the mabizasi covered in stencilled deerskin as are the large fukigaeshi which are mounted with brass family crests, the three stage shikoro is laced in stencilled leather with brass kanamono similarly decorated with scrolling chrysanthemum, the maedate decorated en suite and surmounted by an Ichimonji Mitsuboshi crest (later).
