The rectangular writing box decorated in Ritsuo style with a cover panel of simulated wood supporting an inlaid glazed ceramic figure of Kannon set against swirling gold lacquer clouds, the underside of the lid lacquered with a red lacquer tsuitate, standing screen, bearing an 'ink' painting of gibbons and rocks rendered in blue and white lacquer set on a ground of brown lacquer accented with scattered flakes of eggshell lacquer, the interior of the box matching the ground, fitted with an inkstone and pewter mizuire, pewter rims- 10 3/4 x 7 3/4 x 2 1/2 in. (27.3 x 19.7 x 6.4 cm.), short cracks and nicks
