Of rectangular section with matching, flat rectangular lid, lacquered against the roiro-nuri ground in takamaki-e with a black horse tethered to a pewter support beam of a thatched stable, the hind quarters of the horse visible through a slatted window ornamenting the side of the case, the thatching of the roof continued on the lid, the reverse applied with a gilt metal monkey holding a festival staff; together with a large wood tonkotsu of rectangular shape carved in high relief with two panels of leafing plants and pines- the first 2 7/8 x 2 1/8 x 1 1 /2 in. (7.5 x 5.3 x 3.8 cm.), chips, surface nicks, the second 3 5/8 x 4 1/4 in. (9.3 x 10.7 cm.) (2)
