In 1940 Ohyama Chusaku entered the Japanese-style painting division of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. Upon graduation in 1944 he joined the Air Force and served until his return from Taiwan in 1946. In 1967 he copied the famous murals at the Horyu-ji.
