Born in Osaka, Mimino Usaburo studied with the Hakubakai (White Horse Society) of Western-style painters and at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts under Kuroda Seiki (1866-1924) and Fujishima Takeji (1867-1943). He also was a member of the Kofukai and the Nitten.
