AN EARTHENWARE VASE
meiji period, signed yabu meizan
Of pear shape, enamelled with landscapes and karako in fan-shaped cartouches beneath a lobed band, scattered floral sprigs and a scrolling floral border; together with another earthenware vase, signed Kinkozan, with bijin and attendants in rectangular panels on a gilt-scroll highlighted cobalt blue ground; and a third earthenware vase, of tapering baluster shape, and painted with bijin at leisure separated by cartouches with landscapes and children, brocade decoration at neck and the foot painted with a profusion of butterflies, gilt-highlighted black borders
