A VICTORIAN SILVER TEA KETTLE ON STAND, London, 1880, maker's mark of Frederick Elkington, the six panelled vase form kettle on stepped hexagonal foot, two sides engraved with oval sawtooth enclosed cartouche, one engraved with crest and motto, above engraved with floral and foliate festoons, the corners with patera, the shoulder with sawtooth and wrigglework bands, reeded scalloped rim, the domed hinged cover topped by covered urn finial, with part folaite clad and reeded overhead fixed handle, all on twice chained hexagonal stand raised on four ram's mask headed scroll and hoof supports with berried laurel apron between, the later silver plated lamp lacking cover--19¼in. (48.8cm.) high, gross weight 71.5oz.
