A BRUSSELS BAROQUE PASTORAL TAPESTRY
First Half 18th Century, By Urban Leyniers, After David Teniers II
From the story of Don Quixote and centrally depicting the hero trying to protect the sheep from the hidalgo, in the distance Sancho Panza rides a donkey, with a villagescape in the far distance, within ribbon and acanthus borders woven with scallop shells at the angles, the lower left selvedge woven with the weaver's inscription 'U LEYNIERS'
